Tayo Legacy Foundation Provides Relief to Eaton Fire Victims at Santa Anita Race Track

Altadena and Pasadena, CA — January 2025
In response to the devastating Eaton Fire that displaced numerous residents of Altadena and Pasadena, the Tayo Legacy Foundation mobilized relief efforts to support affected families. From January 9th through January 16th, volunteers, led by Executive Director Paul Mirador, were stationed at Santa Anita Race Track Gate 3, where they provided critical resources and compassionate care to those in need.
Operating daily from 6:30 AM to 11:30 PM, the Tayo Legacy Foundation, in collaboration with Time in Destiny and the National Diversity Coalition, distributed hot meals and essential disaster supplies to fire victims. The combined efforts of these organizations ensured that hundreds of families received nourishing food and much-needed comfort during this challenging time.
Paul Mirador, a seasoned logistics disaster coordinator with over 20 years of experience with the Red Cross, played a pivotal role in orchestrating the large-scale relief operation. His expertise in disaster response logistics was instrumental in guiding traffic flow, directing donors as they delivered supplies, and ensuring an efficient distribution process.
Additionally, Mr. Mirador established a first aid station on-site to provide medical attention to evacuees suffering from minor injuries. The station served as a critical resource for immediate care, emphasizing the foundation's holistic approach to disaster relief.
The successful collaboration between the Tayo Legacy Foundation, Time in Destiny, the National Diversity Coalition, community donors, and local volunteers underscores the power of unity in times of crisis. Reflecting on the initiative, Mr. Mirador remarked, "Supporting our community in moments of hardship is central to our mission. We are committed to standing by those in need with compassion, resources, and a dedication to recovery."
As the Eaton Fire recovery continues, the Tayo Legacy Foundation and its partners remain beacons of hope, offering continued assistance to help affected families rebuild their lives.
